"Oh to be a pear tree- any tree in bloom! With kissing bees singing of the beginning of the world! She was sixteen. She had glossy leaves and bursting buds and she wanted to struggle with life but it seemed to elude her."
I think this quotation is a symbol to the story. The pear tree symbolizes that Janie is growing up, like how a pear tree is blooming. When the pear tree is done blooming, Janie is done changing. The pear tree also has some bumps in its process, like Janie does through her maturity. When it says that it has glossy leaves, it is symbolizing that Janie has good things that happen in her life. When it says that the pear tree kept her strong, she remembered that the pear tree is always looking nice, so her life is always happy. She shouldn't let the little things bring her down. The bees are like the beginning of her world because they come around while it is blooming.
